“Wander alone, like a rhinoceros.” - Gautama Buddha
ZEN CENTER HAPPENINGS - WEEK OF 12/24 - 12/30
Hello Sangha!
Happy holidays! Whatever sort of day you’re having, whatever that means to you today. Just a quick one this week to remind you that we are closed up for winter break this coming week, with the brief exception of a wonderfully bare bones Christmas Morning one hour zoom only sit (12/25) at 7am.
And then we look very forward to seeing you when we reopen Saturday Evening 12/31 at 8pm, for our annual New Year’s Eve Sit including a little zazen, discussion, and then a little more zazen up until midnight accompanied by the traditional ringing of 108 bells.
But speaking of great gatherings of the lonely getting together all alone, we are very pleased to announce the podcast is back this week with Erik Andersen’s “Like a Rhinoceros.” Erik brings us a special holiday talk dedicated to all the loners out there and everyone else who could benefit from getting in touch with their inner existential rhino - including a dramatic reading of the rhinoceros sutra itself. Why does Buddha want us to be so lonely? Can we every truly be alone? Can we ever not be?? Find out here!
This Month in Zen! All sessions hosted in person and on Zoom unless otherwise marked (email us for quick and easy Zoom access info):
Saturday, 12/18 - 12/30

New Year’s Eve Sit - A little sitting, a little New Years discussion, and then more sit-ing (yay!) up into midnight accompanied by the traditional ringing of 108 bells. As always feel free to come for as much or as little of the evening as you’re able.

Love,
